Japanese Elegance blended with classic Western styling personifies the uniquely original "Len-Yu" series.
Living outside Japan for a long period of time renews a person's appreciation of the beauty of classical Japanese aesthetics. Having grown up in Japan, I am very familiar with Japanese culture and the natural beauty of this island country.
I have designed my furniture series to express Japanese elegance that merges with Western lifestyles by reviving Japanese classical designs one-by-one.
Japanese traditional craftsmanship has been melded with Western skill to bring out the natural beauty of wood and this collaboration has given birth to the "Len-Yu" series, characteristic of the beauty reminiscent of the delicate lines of Japanese calligraphy and artistic patterns.
The lotus is one of the undisputed favorites of the plant world. The lotus bundle contains the entire life cycle of this ancient plant and for this reason has been an important source of nourishment and beauty for centuries. Often likened to representing the life cycle of humankind, the lotus has been a universal symbol of life for the Japanese people.
My design incorporates a age-softened background processed with Japanese paper and lacquer made by Taiichi Kirimoto, lacquer designer in Wajima and under the direction of Yuma Arii, a noteworthy producer of folk craft associated with Style Y2 International. After fused with the artistic sense of Sayoko Narita, a budding Japanese photographer, this beautiful lotus image was realized.
