Based in London, Noriko Sawayama is an interior and furniture designer for residential and commercial projects.
Unique among designers, she began her career as a geography major at a Japanese college, and then worked as an international flight attendant and hotel consultant for many years.
Later moving to London to study interior design, illumination technology,soft furnishing, and decorative painting, Ms. Sawayama has combined her expertise in many areas to become an outstanding and innovative interior designer,and in 2000, established her own design office, NSDA, in London.
The modern yet classic lines of her work reflect a simplicity that is Japanese elegance personified.
The popularity of her work is undisputed in the United Kingdom and her "Chigaidana Cabinet," designed in 2003, brought her the coveted Design and Decoration Award.
Ms. Sawayama has headed the BIDA International Department since 2007.
