Low Board

Low Board
This low board reflects the beauty of Japan by combining "Nanban Shippo" (cloisonne enamel with Western patterns) created for more than four centuries at Karacho, a traditional lacquer craft business in Kyoto.

Karacho

Karacho, established in 1624, is Japan's oldest karakami (Japanese paper) store, located in Kyoto. The trademark silver and black pattern, "Nanban Shippo" has come to symbolize the store and its long tradition.

Karakami is produced by pressing pigment onto paper using patterned wooden blocks. This technique has remained virtually unchanged for more than 400 years. The Sendas are the custodians of 650 hand-carved wooden blocks made over the centuries and still use them to produce the paper for which Karacho is world famous.
